Sensex stumbles 250 points but stays above 36,000-mark

NEW DELHI: Equity markets lost steam on Tuesday as the Street noticed major correction with each Sensex and Nifty dropping 0.70 according to cent throughout the day.
30-share BSE Sensex lost 249.52 points to near on 36,033.73 whilst the broader 50-share NSE Nifty completed on 11,049.65, down by way of 80.75 points.

On Monday, as the industrial survey got published, chief economic adviser Arvind Subramanian time and again warned buyers about high valuations within the stock marketplace and stressed out the desire for higher vigilance.

"We have seen around the world that when asset prices go up very much, they always tend to come back and so we have to be watchful. The higher the prices go, I think our vigilance should increase correspondingly," Subramanian mentioned throughout an interaction with media after the discharge of the Economic Survey.


Analysts also anticipated volatility on account of the approaching Union Budget on February 1.
