Realtor held for Rs 5 crore fraud

BHUBANESWAR: The financial offences wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch right here on Wednesday arrested a realtor for allegedly reneging on a deal to provide properties to a lot of persons and dishonest them to the track of nearly Rs 5 crore.
EOW registered the dishonest case against Jagat Jiban Nayak - managing director of Orissa Homes Private Limited - who allegedly accrued the cash from 115 persons between 2011 and 2014.

The sufferers lodged proceedings with the EOW a few days ago. Earlier, the Nayapalli police right here in August 2014 had registered a dishonest case against Nayak and some of his staffers.


"We are probing the financial transactions of Nayak and his company. We will also find out whether he diverted the money anywhere. Prima facie, we found evidence of cheating against him," inspector normal (EOW) R Okay Sharma stated. EOW stated Nayak accrued cash from folks to provide them apartments at Kuha in Jatni area at the city outskirts under a mission, namely Anand Homes. Sources stated Anand Homes mission presented 2BHK apartments at a value of between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 14 lakh.


"I had booked a flat in 2011 and have so far paid nearly Rs 9 lakh. I was assured to take possession of my home by paying the remaining Rs 3 lakh in 2014. But Nayak is yet to hand over my property," stated Anil Rout, a sufferer. "We were forced to wait for so many years as he kept assuring us to provide homes," Rout stated.


In November, a lot of duped consumers staged demonstration outside Nayak's residence in Sailashree Vihar area and demanded refunds. "We were attacked by his staffers and security guards when we approached his office in Nayapalli area in August 2014. We had lodged a complaint. But the police arrested a security guard and three employees. Police protected Nayak," stated Sailesh Sahoo, some other sufferer.


Nayapalli police stated Nayak was then at the run and later availed anticipatory bail from Orissa high court. Police stated 50-year-old Nayak began his actual estate trade in 2008-09. Nayak, who graduated in vehicles engineering from Chennai, was working in a non-public corporate before he began his personal trade.
