Supreme Court to resume hearing on Aadhaar's legality

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court's five-judge constitution bench will resume listening to on the legality of the 12-digit biometric identification number, Aadhaar, on Thursday.
On January 23, all the way through the listening to, the petitioners' recommend, Shyam Divan, identified that Section 48 allows the federal government to take over the keep watch over of all of the file through mentioning a public emergency. He also cited phase 51 and 57 whilst arguing for a slew of petitioners challenging the constitutional validity of the Aadhaar subject.

The petitioners' recommend, on January 18, identified three problems as the Aadhaar subject was being argued earlier than the five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court.


During the listening to, Divan raised three problems earlier than the apex court that included-integrity of the method, the integrity of the guidelines and pervasive violation of elementary rights.


The bench, headed through Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra, is listening to a batch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the identification number.


Since the inception of the Aadhaar card, its validity and possible leakages of knowledge have surfaced over and over again.


The apex court has also won petitions towards the linkage of this 12-digit number with cellphones, bank accounts and so forth.
