BHUBANESWAR: Infighting within the Congress has come to the fore again with Koraput MLA and Congress leader Krishna Chandra Sagaria on Saturday threatening to hand over the birthday celebration and if required renounce from MLA publish over alleged casteist remarks through birthday celebration colleague Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
Sagaria, who belongs to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, transformed to Buddhism in May. "Ever since I changed my religion, the Jeypore MLA has been making casteist remarks against me. He is even hatching a conspiracy against me," Sagaria instructed reporters here.
He said he has already informed the birthday celebration top command, OPCC president and birthday celebration's Odisha in-charge about it and demanded exemplary action in opposition to Bahinipati.
According to stories, some outfits had lodged lawsuits in opposition to Sagaria with OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik all the way through the latter's consult with to Koraput district after the MLA transformed to Buddhism. Sagaria alleged that Bahinipati had instigated the outfits.
Bahinipati refuted the allegations and said he has never made any remarks in opposition to Sagaria after he coverted.
"Converting to any religion is a personal matter. Why should I comment on it? Also, I have not asked anyone to lodge complaints against Sagaria. I don't know why he is making such allegations against me," said Bahinipati.
