Tirupur: The town police on Thursday arrested a burglar, who made off with 39 sovereigns gold jewellery and Rs 7.85 lakh in money from a garment businessman’s area at Thottathupalayam, eight hours after the incident.
Knowledge about the modus operandi of 40-year-old K Siva, who has 30 circumstances against him, helped police nab him and recover the stolen pieces.
The history-sheeter had targeted the house of Arun Kumar of G N Nagar in Thottathupalayam. “Arun is working a knitwear garment manufacturing unit near the New Bus Stand. He had left for the unit on Thursday night time, leaving behind his spouse Rajeswari and daughter on the area. As standard, after locking the front door, Arun had kept the key near a window. Around 1am, Siva won access into the house the use of the key and stole gold and money from a bureau that was once no longer locked. When Rajeswari woke up hearing the noise, the thief fled from the house and locked the front door. He threw away the key,” a police officer said.
A police staff quickly reached where. City police commissioner P Nagarajan formed a unique five-member staff led via Anupparpalayam inspector KT Rajan Babu, who had zeroed in on Siva. “Siva hailed from Arasampatti in Krishnagiri. Unlike other burglars who ruin open doorways and home windows to achieve access, Siva enters houses without the knowledge of the inmates. Though he was once a hit this time, he was once spotted via probably the most inmates,” the officer said.
Suspecting Siva’s role, the special staff went to check his temporary area in Pooluvapatti and caught him red-handed looking to disguise the stolen belongings. Siva had pop out of the Salem Central Prison just a month in the past.
