HYDERABAD: Ten flights have been diverted and four cancelled due to poor visibility at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Sunday. Of the 4 flights cancelled was once a Muscat-bound world flight scheduled to depart at three.30pm. Airlines, including Jet Airways, Indigo, Spice-Jet and Air India, have been forced to divert and lengthen flights due to poor visibility on the runway.
Passengers stranded on the airport took to social media to vent their anger. A passenger who had her flight to Chennai at 7.50am expressed her anger. “@airindiain Had a flight at 0750 hrs to Chennai & additional directly to Port Blair. Flight not on time &personnel clueless even after 2 hrs! Somewhat fog did the trick for our nationwide machine at Hyderabad airport? Disappointed with #AirIndia! Holiday plans move awry,” tweeted Ranjana.
Similarly, a Jet Airways flight 9W 2821from Pune was once also not on time via 2.5 hours. Due to diversions, many passengers neglected connecting flights.
Regretting the inconvenience caused to passengers, Indigo spoke back to one of the tweets on Sunday. “Flight were given diverted due to low visibility at Hyderabad airport. Certain factors like bad weather are unpredictable and beyond our keep an eye on. We stay up for your understanding,” tweeted Indigo to a passenger whose Hyderabad-bound flight was once diverted to Bengaluru.
Like Indigo, Jet Airways, too, spoke back on similar strains.
