SHRC seeks report on implementation of traffic regulations

HYDERABAD: Following a grievance lodged by a Kerala-based human rights activist last 12 months, the State Human Rights Commission issued an order to the Hyderabad joint commissioner of police (visitors), to put up a record on poor visitors in the town and the plight of pedestrians which the Telangana govt officials were allegedly ignoring.
According to the order issued, the fee will further glance into the topic on June 5, prior to which the record by the Hyderabad joint visitors commissioner needs to be submitted to the discussion board.

The activist in his grievance said visitors norms had been being violated and the safety of pedestrians was once ignored.

"Even though the situation is serious, the state government or authorities concerned have not come forward to ensure safe journey of pedestrians. To cross a road in AC Guards, it took me more than 15 minutes as most vehicles are not stopping even though I was standing in the zebra line. I also noticed that lot of accidents are taking place in a hurry to cross the road especially during school time," said Kochi-based K Govindan Nampoothiry, in his letter to the AP State Human Rights Commission, in December.

"I was a witness to many such incidents in two weeks. This is the situation across major places in Hyderabad, especially Babu Khan estate near the police commissioner's office," he added, while alleging that state govt violated the typical man's right to walk freely and safely.

Nampoothiry was once on an legit talk over with to Hyderabad in November-end last 12 months, when he witnessed the rampant and 'serious visitors violations' on town roads in vast sunlight.
