PATIALA: A 35-year-old lady was once burnt to dying in Lehragaga department of Sangrur district. Police said that they have arrested a 26-year-old guy for the incident that happened at round 4.30am on Sunday within the grain marketplace space of the city. The family of the woman, who earned her living running as a rag picker, has alleged that she was once raped prior to being killed, then again, police dominated it out.
The police said that the accused, Gurmeet Singh alias Budh Ram of Lehragaga, used to apply the rag picker lady and on Sunday, he objected to the sufferer's presence within the grain marketplace at round 4 am. After getting into a quarrel with the deceased lady, he set her on hearth with the assistance of the papers amassed from heaps of rubbish and other waste close to the grain marketplace, police said.
In the initial investigation, it was once found that accused was once son of a cook dinner and was once living in a room rented close to the grain marketplace space. The police said that accused was once returning after attending a weeding serve as and was once under the influence of alcohol when he countered the woman sorting throughout the rubbish.
Lehragaga SHO said, "The incident took place at around 4.20 am on Sunday when accused Gurmeet saw the rag picker. He accused the woman and her companions of luring young boys. He slapped the woman who fell down and fainted after her head stuck a sharp-edged iron object. Panicking, the accused gathered papers from her huge bag and burnt her to do away with the evidence."
"We was acting alone. The body of the woman was found at the spot 100% burn injuries. We have not find anything to suggest that she was raped but since her family had levelled the allegations, investigation is being carried out thoroughly. The medical examination of the deceased woman is underway," the SHO added.
Sister-in-law of the sufferer advised TOI, "She is survived by four children. "
