VARANASI: Congress birthday party’s Ballia unit on Monday moved a police complaint towards BJP MLA from Bairia in Ballia, Surendra Singh, for allegedly comparing former AICC president Sonia Gandhi with actor-dancer Sapna Chaudhary.
Hours before the denial of Sapna relating to joining Congress, Singh had kicked off the row on Sunday, saying “both Sonia and Sapna are from the similar career”. A video of his statement also went viral on social media.
Singh made the contentious remarks after realizing that Sapna had joined Congress. “It is just right that Rahul is wearing forward his circle of relatives tradition. His mom (Sonia Gandhi) also belonged to the similar career in Italy and nowadays he inducted Sapna (into the birthday party),” Singh was heard saying in the video.
“The way, your father (Rajiv Gandhi) accredited Soniaji, you, too, should settle for Sapna and start your political innings,” Singh added in the video.
Ballia Kotwali Inspector Shashimauli Pandey mentioned, “A written complaint has been received from Congressmen and the matter is being appeared into.”
