CHENNAI: DMK president M K Stalin on Friday sought after strict action towards the ones curious about violence towards dalits all over polling in Ariyalur on Thursday.
In a commentary, Stalin accused the state police of turning a blind eye to violence. "More than 20 houses belonging to dalits were damaged. In some areas, the ruling AIADMK tried to take over polling booths. The police turned a blind eye to all these," stated Stalin.
He stated the DMK had demanded several instances that the Election Commission switch police officers who have been in the similar place for a very long time. “But the EC didn't take any step to switch them,” he stated.
"Looking at the violence and other issues that happened at polling stations, we doubt whether the DGP (elections) is actually in charge of law and order," Stalin stated.
