Ghaziabad: The NGT is more likely to come to a decision at the contempt plea filed by way of city-based environmentalist Sushil Raghav towards GDA after the development agency failed to acquire environmental clearance for its UP Gate to Rajnagar Extension elevated road challenge.
The GDA on December 18 last year submitted a testimony within the NGT admitting that they have still no longer ready to seek environmental clearance from State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA). "This goes against NGT's July 2016 order in which it had asked GDA to obtain environmental clearance following which we filed contempt plea" mentioned Raghav.
The GDA mentioned it is operating on getting environmental clearance. "The matter regarding seeking environmental clearance is being pursued at the highest level and we hope that just before elevated road project is inaugurated the clearance will be taken" mentioned Ritu Maheshwari, GDA vice chairperson.
The case dates again to 2016, when Raghav filed a case with the NGT alleging that a portion of the 10.Three-km elevated road is being is being constructed on land for Hindon hen sanctuary. Following the petition, the courtroom stayed the paintings on this phase in July 2016 and ordered GDA to acquire environmental clearance from SEIAA inside 3 months.
