BTC aspirants troop in for protest, halt traffic for 6 hours

LUCKNOW: Several roads within the city had been choked for over six hours as hundreds of Basic Teachers Certificate (BTC) aspirants trooped in on Thursday hard that the state government must issue then appointment letters.
As protesters sat out of doors the Vidhan Bhawan raising anti-government, huge traffic snarls had been witnessed from Burlington Crossing until Nishatganj.

The ripple effects had been noticed on Kaiserbagh Crossing, Rana Pratap Marg and KD Singh Babu Stadium.

As protesters refused to leave the spot after a number of warnings, police used lathicharge to disperse them.

Police also detained a few of their leaders and cleared the street for traffic movement.

School trucks, commuters and even ambulances had been caught within the jams.


Danish Yadav, a school van driver, mentioned such jams are turning into a regimen around Hazratganj crossing and purpose inconvenience to schoolchildren.


Traffic policemen had to battle for half-an-hour to make passage for an ambulance that was once caught in jam close to Kaiserbagh crossing.


Subroto Das, an IIT-aspirant who involves Hazratganj daily for coaching, mentioned, "I was stuck at the Hazratganj crossing for three hours as no public transport was available. Finally, I took a lift to reach my home."
