'Congress government didn't fund twin cities'

HUBBALLI: The non-cooperation of the former Congress government is the cause of the backwardness of the twin towns, alleged former leader minister Jagadish Shettar. Speaking to journalists after inaugurating the cleaning of a Raja Nala here in Lingaraj Nagar on Friday, Shettar mentioned the Siddaramaiah-led government did not unlock a unmarried paisa for the advance of Hubballi-Dharwad. "It even refused to release Rs 136 crore of pension amount. This step-motherly treatment has delayed the progress of the cities," he mentioned.

He lamented that although Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Rs 800 crore to Hubballi, the state government may spend simply Rs 12 crore out of it. "One cannot expect building from the present JD(S)-Congress combine too,' he added.

On the ongoing works, he mentioned cleaning of the typhoon water drain has been taken up underneath the Smart City Project. "Sante Maidan and Tolanakere works might be finished inside of a yr," he mentioned.
