Kukkarahalli Lake turns hunting ground for budding photographers

MYSURU: It is a biodiversity hotspot within the center of the city drawing hen watchers and natural world fanatics in massive numbers. Now, Kukkarahalli Lake appears to have became a searching ground for younger, budding photographers. The many birds that discuss with the waterbody, coupled with its rich wildlife, are a photographers’ pleasure, and having a look at nature through the lens appears to be turning many younger other folks into conservationists.

The lake remains a hotspot for birds. Also, the timings of the lake are very versatile and because there's very little disturbance, this can be a paradise for birds. Clicking images of migratory and resident birds provides me a sense of satisfaction.”

Moreover, the lake has became a space for finding out for kids. In the morning, the lake remains open for six hours – from 5am to 11am - giving younger photographers considerable time to use their lens creatively. Photographers can seize the flight of birds, nesting, breeding, mating and feeding of offspring. In the night, as the birds return to their nest towards twilit sky, the younger photographers have the opportunity to further hone their abilities in a completely other setting.

H Phanindra, a city-based IT worker, said that it a discuss with to the waterbody that inspired him to take in nature pictures. “Until the day I walked into the lake, the theory of hen pictures by no means passed off to me. With its rich wildlife, and 100 species of birds, Kukkarahalli Lake is a great place for photographers. Another newbie photographer Skanda Rathnam said, “I started taking images of birds around six years in the past. I've been visiting the lake incessantly ever since. I've spotted greater than 100 species of birds, and have captured all of them on my digital camera. Kingfishers, Purple Herons, Grey Herons, Purple Swamphens, Pelicans and Cormorants are one of the vital birds I've captured and added to my album. DC an avid hen watcter

Among different, Mysuru deputy commissioner Abhiram G Sankar is an avid hen watcher. Sankar, who took fee as the Mysuru DC in April, has been an energetic member of a hen watchers’ crew since. “I've been an energetic hen watcher since 2007. I experience hen staring at, and taking images of them is one thing I cherish. A few weeks in the past, when I visited Kukkarahalli Lake, I realized a rare hen, the Greater Painted Snipe. For a hen watcher, any habitat is a pleasure. Whether this can be a lake or a desert, one thing stirs in you whilst you pay attention to the chirping of the birds,” Sankar advised TOI.


He added that he used to be inspired with the city’s energetic hen staring at neighborhood. “When I used to be in Raichur, I educated a few interested youngsters. I am very captivated with exploring extra aviary habitats,” Sankar said.


Mushrooms spark hobby


The copious rain that the city has won has ended in mushrooms cropping up on the outer edge of the lake, and photographers are rushing to the waterbody to seize these fungi.
