NEW DELHI: The National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), which proposes multiple methods to fight air pollution, could be notified via the end of this month, a top atmosphere ministry reputable mentioned today.
"It (notification of NCAP) should be done soon, say, by the end of this month," Union atmosphere secretary CK Mishra informed PTI at the sidelines of an tournament here.
The Environment Ministry has prepared the draft NCAP with an goal to get a hold of a comprehensive plan for prevention, control and abatement of air pollution, and to augment the air high quality monitoring network across the country.
Various inexperienced groups have submitted their recommendations to the ministry at the draft.
In February, Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan had mentioned that the ministry hoped to carry down air pollution in round 100 non-attainment cities via 50 percent within the subsequent five years beneath the NCAP.
Non-attainment cities are spaces with air high quality worse than the National Ambient Air Quality (NAAQ) Standards.
The key parts of the NCAP come with city-specific air pollution abatement action plan for 100 polluting cities of the country increasing the choice of monitoring stations, knowledge dissemination, public participation on planning and implementation.
The other parts come with setting up of air information centre for knowledge research, resource apportionment research, national inventory and rural monitoring stations, but even so tips for indoor air pollution.
Last month, Greenpeace India had recommended the ministry to hurry up the tempo of rolling out the programme as a thick haze of mud enveloped Delhi and the pollution levels spiked to an alarming "severe" category.
