NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday said that it has despatched request for extradition of fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi to the United Kingdom (UK).
The request was despatched after UK confirmed presence of Nirav Modi in its territory, CBIofficials said.
Nirav Modi along with his family fled India at the start of this yr, more than a month sooner than their involvement in the Rs 13,500 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam came to the fore.
Earlier in July, the Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) in opposition to Nirav Modi after the CBI had approached Interpol.
