Bharuch/Surat: Thousands of Adivasis took out a rally from Kevadiya Colony to Rajpipla in Narmada district to invite the state government not to deprive them in their rights within the identify of construction on Monday.
Men and girls belonging to different tribal groups walked 24 kilometres within the rally to put up a memorandum to district collector at Rajpipla. The rally by Bharatiya Tribal Party and Adivasi Samaj used to be supported by Congress. Mahesh Vasava, MLA from Dediapada constituency belonging to BTP, advised newshounds, “Police misused their energy in opposition to tribals and lodged an FIR in opposition to 24 people once they protested in opposition to the basis stone-laying rite of Haryana Bhavan at Kevadiya Colony on January 20. We need the FIR to be withdrawn and motion initiated in opposition to police officers for their high-handedness in opposition to the tribals.”
“The state government is destroying the tribal tradition and taking away the land of tribals to make Statue of Unity a vacationer spot. We need the state government to return us our lands. The Statue of Unity has been attracting tourists in huge numbers, nevertheless it has not benefited the native inhabitants in any respect,” Vasava added.
