Ludhiana: Ahead of Holi, heavy rush in long-route trains has resulted in the late arrival of most trains on the town railway station. On Tuesday, greater than 15 trains arrived late through a number of hours, which created problems for passengers waiting on different platforms.
Providing information relating to special trains, station superintendent Ashok Salaria said: “Due to Holi pageant rush, many special trains are working, which has crowded the rail route. Due to this, many trains arrived late through a number of hours.”
The worst affected trains had been Shaheed Express from Amritsar to Jaynagar, which arrived 8 hours late at 4am as a substitute of 8pm the previous night, Amritsar-Howrah Express arrived seven hours late at 12.45pm as a substitute of five.40am, and Pooja Express from Ajmer to Jammu arrived six hours late at nine.30am as a substitute of 3.20am.”
Meanwhile, passengers claimed railways will have to run a couple of extra pageant specials to conquer the problem of heavy rush in long-route trains, as the situation in the town station has worsened because of heavy rush. One lady passenger, Gurpreet Kaur, looking ahead to Howrah Express, said: “Railway authorities will have to build up the strength of waiting rooms on the town railway station, so in case of train prolong, passengers can spend their time without dealing with any inconvenience.”
