2-year old's fingers crushed in TVM at metro stn

NEW DELHI: An FIR of negligence has been registered in an incident during which a two-year-old lady injured her arms when a Delhi Metro worker allegedly shut the door of a price ticket vending device (TVM) on her hand at Uttam Nagar metro station earlier this month. The child needed to go through surgical procedure to sew again her arms.

The child’s father, Amit Saxena, claimed that they weren't provided any assistance through DMRC officials, aside from first help. The worker who had allegedly shut the door at the child’s hand is being wondered.

Saxena stated the incident took place round 4.30pm on March 9. “I was recharging my metro card, whilst my spouse used to be status a few toes away. I unexpectedly heard our daughter scream and noticed her arms bleeding profusely. A metro worker who used to be repairing a TVM had shut the door before she may just pull out her hand,” he added.


The metro employees directed Saxena to the station controller’s room for first help. “A guard took us to the room, however there wasn’t sufficient first help material. The controller later found a bandage and tied it on my daughter’s hand and asked me to take her to a hospital,” he stated.


The child used to be admitted to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Janakpuri where she used to be operated upon through a plastic surgeon. After two days, she used to be discharged after a minor amputation of her finger.


The family later filed an RTI with the metro station controller to determine the precautions taken whilst repairing equipment. They alleged that there have been no guardrails, barricades or a security guard status close by to alert people a couple of restore being performed.


A DMRC spokesperson stated they're going to provide all possible assist to the child. “It seems that the woman child used to be left unattended and had put her arms at the TVM.
