MUMBAI: Sahar police on Monday arrested a civil engineer for allegedly sexually assaulting his 75-year-old relative when he stayed at her place of abode in April 2016.
Nijamutheen Rahiman, 35, who was once hired with a Doha-based corporate, hails from Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu. The girl lodged an FIR in opposition to Rahiman in August 2018.
"It took almost two months after we filtered through at least 150 names of fliers starting with Nizammuddin who had flown out of Mumbai airport since 2016. It took long as the suspect's family in Tamil Nadu refused to co-operate. We knew he would visit India during the month of Ramzan," stated a Sahar police station officer.
The girl has said Rahiman stayed in her house for just about a month to wait in a foreign country process interviews. "He sexually assaulted me in April 2016 and threatened me into silence," the lady stated.
Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Manoj Kumar supervised the workforce comprising zonal DCP Anil Kumbhare, Sahar police senior inspector Shashikant Mane and inspector Sunaina Nate.
Rahiman was once stuck on the immigration test at Bengaluru airport on April four.
