Corpn to rank its wards based on cleanliness

Coimbatore: In line with the central government's Swachh Survekshan awards, the Coimbatore Corporation will quickly asses the wards in its limits and releases a rank record this October. The wards can be ranked on quite a lot of parameters together with clearing of the garbage and assortment, segregation and disposal of the waste.

The 100 wards within the corporation will have to clean up their streets and get in a position for an inside overview through corporation and different government officials.

"It will be just like the Swachh Survekshan awards given by the central government. All wards have already started the work. First, they are clearing the garbage piled up on the streets. After this, the focus will be shifted to door-to-door collection, segregation and disposal of the waste," said Suresh Bhandari, consultant with the corporation for forged waste control.

The corporation commissioner Ok Vijayakarthikeyan held a meeting with the sanitary officials and NGOs to come up with a plan to wash up town streets. "We want to motivate the workers and also create a routine so that cleanliness is maintained throughout the year," he said.


As consistent with the corporation officials, the cleanliness campaign can be held precisely like Swachh Survekshan through which quite a lot of towns across the nation participate.


"Instead of cities, it will be wards here. They will be assessed on various parameters such as waste collection, transportation, sweeping, management of solid waste - processing and disposal, open defecation free and availability of toilets. Apart from this, door-to-door collection, user charges collection, commercial areas undertaking sweeping twice a day, waste segregation and bulk waste generators disposing on-site will also be inspected," said an legitimate.


The corporation will usher in a 3rd birthday celebration committee comprising government officials who would check up on and rank the wards. All the ward officials will have to provide elementary information within the form of a report and cleanliness inspection could be carried out. The ward officials may have time until November remaining week and the validation process will take place in December after which the wards gets their rankings.
