Karwar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested Maharudra Huli, a lab assistant connected to the minor irrigation department at Haliyal, for allegedly accepting bribe from a contractor. The ACB is searching for every other accused Vishwanath H, an assistant government engineer within the department.
According to the assets, Madhav Nayak, a contractor of teenage irrigation department, had sought invoice of the paintings he had accomplished. Assistant government engineer Vishwanath H, who could also be the executive engineer in-charge, allegedly requested Madhav to pay ₹30,000 on January 1 as bribe to get the volume released.
Madhav knowledgeable the ACB officials who laid a lure for Vishwanath. On Monday, Madhav visited the place of work with the cash but Vishwanth was once now not introduced. When contacted, Vishwanath allegedly requested the contractor to leave the cash with lab assistant Maharudra Huli. On Vishwanath's instruction, Maharudra accredited the cash. The ACB sleuths, who have been waiting outdoor the place of work, raided where and seized the cash from Maharudra and arrested him.
Maharudra has been brought to Karwar to be produced earlier than the courtroom.
