Cut power one day per week to save Krishna water: MLAs

Belagavi: Do no longer provide power for sooner or later in a week to villages and cities alongside the Krishna River to save water for the summer time, advised several MLAs. They instructed this to district in-charge minister Ramesh Jarkiholi on the quarterly Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) assembly held on the ZP place of business premises here on Monday.
"If there is uninterrupted power supply, water will be pumped continuously out of the river for agriculture and it might become dry by April. During summer, people might not get water for drinking purpose too, hence power should be cut on one day per week along the Krishna basin in Bagalkot, Vijayapura and Belagavi districts to save water," said Kudachi MLA P Rajeev.

Other MLAs too said the similar and then Jarkiholi assured to take the measures important to tackle the water disaster in the summer.


Deputy commissioner S Ziyaullah suggested all taluk officers to take measures to revive dead bore wells and added that permission to drill new bore wells at puts that have severe water issues must be given within seven days.


Yamakanmardi MLA Satish Jarkiholi complained that two ration playing cards were issued to the similar households in a couple of taluks because of which many deficient households were not getting ration. Food and civil provide division officers must in finding such replica playing cards and take suitable measures, he advised.


Kudachi MLA P Rajeev demanded an in depth care unit and appointment of woman doctors within the taluk sanatorium at Kudachi. Chikkodi MLA Ganesh Hukkeri, Belagavi rural MLA Sanjay Patil, Athani MLA Laxman Savadi, Khanapur MLA Aravind Patil, Raibag MLA Duryodhan Aihole, Kagwad MLA Raju Kage, Zilla Panchayat president Asha Aihole and ZP CEO R Ramchandra were present.
