NEW DELHI: Anguished over the "pathetic state of affairs" at Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at Rajghat here, the Delhi top court docket on Tuesday stated that barely anything else is being finished to maintain where which is visited through each international leader who comes to India.
As the nation noticed the 70th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday, a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar stated that the authorities must no longer want court docket orders to accomplish their duties.

After seeing the hot photos of Rajghat and the poor situation of bathrooms there, the bench stated, "Hardly anything appears to have been done by the Rajghat Samadhi Committee to maintain Rajghat. This shows a pathetic state of affairs."

"Is this the condition of Rajghat. There is no single person who comes to India and does not go to Rajghat in Delhi and Taj Mahal in Agra. Every international leader goes there," the bench noticed.

It appointed recommend Satyakam as a neighborhood commissioner to talk over with Rajghat along with the suggest for events and record a file after inspecting where.

The bench listed the topic for further hearing on April 15.

The court docket was hearing a public hobby litigation (PIL) which alleged that Mahatma Gandhi's memorial was no longer being properly maintained.

The court docket had earlier expressed displeasure over maintaining a donation field at Rajghat, saying this was a "disrespectful" gesture to the Father of the Nation.

It had also directed the chief engineer, Central Public Works Department to personally investigate cross-check the Rajghat Samadhi and all similar premises.

Petitioner Shyam Narayan Chouksey has claimed that the memorial "was not at all being properly and cleanly maintained", and regardless of being brought to the attention of the Committee and Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), there has been no alternate in the situation.


In the PIL, Chouksey has submitted photos of alleged deficiencies that he had come across throughout his talk over with to the monument in 2014 and on the other hand in 2015 and 2016, when he claimed the placement had worsened.


He has alleged there have been betel stains at the front, broken flooring tiles, rubbish lying all over the monument, the white marble has became black because of loss of cleansing while the green carpet laid for guests to walk was damaged.


Two bathrooms had been in very poor situation and unclean, and at many puts sewage lines are uncovered and filled with garbage, becoming "breeding place for mosquitoes and other insects".
