Mahadayi activists threaten to gherao Modi on February 4

Hubballi: Activists will gherao Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he fails to talk about the Mahadayi water dispute in his speech on the BJP convention to be held in Bengaluru on February four, said Mahadayi Kalasa-Banduri Raita Horata Sanghatanegala Okkoota leader Lokanath Hebsur on Monday.

Hebsur advised reporters: "We support the Bengaluru Bandh call given by pro-Kannada organizations on February 4. We are taking part in a preparatory meet in Benagaluru on February 1 to discuss the bandh. If Modi promises to resolve the issue prior to the bandh, we will withdraw the plan to gherao the PM."


He alleged that political events had been indulging in a slugfest instead of striving to get to the bottom of the dispute. "If the protest against Modi is not allowed on Feb 4, the next strategy for the protests will be discussed the same day," he said.


Youth Cong to focus on BJP


Youth Congress state president Basanagouda Badarli threatened to stage dharnas in entrance of the flats and places of work of BJP MPs and legislators across the state on February four if Modi fails to proclaim that he would intrude to get to the bottom of the water dispute. Badarli advised reporters that Modi used to be taking part in with the lives of farmers of north Karnataka by way of now not intervening to get to the bottom of the dispute.
