GURUGRAM: It was once supposed to be a simple delivery. But as Meena gave birth to a girl, there was once an unforeseen complication. She had a 2nd fetus in her womb, a boy.
Meena had two ultrasonography experiences when she was once admitted to the General Hospital in Sohna (Gurugram) on January 21, each saying she was once carrying one kid. The govt sanatorium staff was once, due to this fact, taken aback when she went into labour right after delivering the woman. Another kid, they realised, was once on its way. But the baby could no longer be saved.

Meena and her husband Hiranand (36), a panchayat member in Alipur near Sohna, have two daughters, aged 6 and 3 years. Meena conceived a third time ultimate 12 months. For her ultrasonography, she went to Goyal Ultrasound & Diagnostic Centre in Sohna, first on September 29, 2017, and then on January 17 this 12 months. Both instances, the record stated she was once carrying a "single, live, intra uterine fetus".

Doctors on the Sohna sanatorium used those experiences as their reference; this govt facility does no longer have a USG machine of its own. The doctors gave Meena a delivery date of March 6, 2018. But Meena's water broke on January 21. She was once rushed to the Sohna sanatorium at 11pm.

Using the similar USG experiences as their reference, the sanatorium staff supervised the delivery a woman at 11.10pm. No C-section was once carried out. But 10 mins after the delivery, Meena skilled critical ache in her back and abdomen. After carrying out exams, doctors discovered she had another baby within the womb. The 2nd baby, a boy, was once delivered at 11.30pm. This lengthen of 20 mins may have been fatal, the doctors stated.

Meena, who has approached the civil surgeon with a criticism of scientific negligence, instructed TOI on Tuesday, "The doctors got upset with us and asked us why we had not told them I was carrying twins. The boy was in the womb and he probably inhaled amniotic fluid or was deprived of oxygen. Therefore, he had trouble breathing after he was born. But we had no idea I was carrying twins. I lost my son due to someone else's negligence."


Around 2am on January 22, doctors on the Sohna sanatorium stated the boy was once crucial and referred him and Meena to Gurugram's major govt sanatorium in Civil Lines. But, consistent with Meena and her husband, the Civil Lines sanatorium instructed them could accommodate just one baby since all cots were occupied. At 3am, they were referred to Delhi's Safdarjung sanatorium.


Meena and her small children were admitted there at 5am. By then, the boy's well being had worsened and he was once put on oxygen within the NICU. On January 25, doctors instructed the couple at five.30am that the boy was once breathing at periods of 20 mins. Later within the day, at 3.30pm, the baby was once declared dead.


Hiranand stated Meena was once nonetheless affected by headaches. "She has fever, severe body ache and weakness for a week. We are worried about her health," stated Hiranand, who has named the USG centre within the criticism and demanded action against its owner.


"We have received the complaint and the medical negligence board will conduct an inquiry. Necessary action will be taken against the USG centre if any negligence is found," stated Dr B Okay Rajora, civil surgeon, Gurugram.
