10 long route trains arrive late by several hours

LUDHIANA: As many as 10 lengthy route trains operating to and from the national capital arrived late by a number of hours on Sunday on the Ludhiana railway station, because of ongoing building work of limited height subway, including laying new railway traces on the Amritsar-New Delhi railway route right here on Saturday, which irked passengers looking forward to them on different platforms of town station.

Trains coming from distant places like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal remained the worst affected, as they arrived late by greater than eight to 9 hours, which made passengers restless. Himgiri Express from Howrah to Amritsar arrived late by greater than 16 hours at 12.45pm, as a substitute of 8pm on Saturday evening. Lohit Express from Guwahati to Jammu Tawi arrived late by greater than 9 hours at four.15pm, as a substitute of 7am. Jansewa Express from Saharsa to Amritsar was also operating late by eight hours. Tata Muri Express from Tata Nagar to Jammu Tawi arrived late by greater than 9 hours at 2.25pm, as a substitute of 5.15am. Avadh-Assam Express arrived 4 hours late at 11am, as a substitute of 7am, and Lohit Express was behind schedule by greater than 5 hours, arriving at 1.10pm as a substitute of 7.30am.


Ludhiana railway station superintendent Ashok Salaria stated: “Construction work for the betterment of rail infrastructure is going on right through the Northern Railways department, so trains coming from UP, Bihar, and Kolkata side arrived late by a number of hours. Another reason why for the peculiar extend in arrival of trains were the several summer particular trains operating, which ended in congestion.”
