Air Mauritius flight delayed, 200 fliers stranded

CHENNAI: More than 200 passengers have been stranded at Chennai airport as an Air Mauritius flight (MK 747), scheduled to depart for Mauritius Island at 7.45am, was delayed by 13 hours. The flight has been rescheduled to 8.30pm.
An airport professional told TOI that the flight had been delayed for the reason that crew had exceeded flight responsibility time limit.

Irate passengers picked up an argument with airline flooring body of workers as they weren't knowledgeable about the rescheduling until 7.30am. People who have been waiting for the boarding call at gate 16 of world terminal came to know about the lengthen when the revised departure time flashed on flight knowledge board.

Karthik Lakshmanan, a passenger, mentioned: "The airline staff did not give an official explanation. They are giving different reasons for the delay. First they said pilot did not report for duty and then they said that the pilot had some issue with his licence."

Bharath, any other passenger, mentioned, "I checked in around 5am and there was no information about the delay till it was nearly the boarding time."

Some passengers have been told that the crew had not arrived while others have been told that pilot didn't have a licence to fly, he added.


Passengers misplaced patience and mobbed a flooring body of workers tough an reason behind the lengthen. However, he didn't have a transparent solution about the reason why.


"There is no crew, no plane and the airline officials are not there to explain," mentioned Bharath.


Karthik mentioned that majority of the passengers have been holidayers who had booked applications. "I have booked seven days package worth Rs 35,000. I have to check in today. All plans have been ruined."
