Cops' no to Tuticorin firing docu screening

CHENNAI: The Chennai city police have objected to the screening of a documentary on police firing on anti-Sterlite protesters in Tuticorin on May 22 which claimed 13 lives.

Vanigar Pervai leader S Vellaiyan on Sunday despatched a message to newshounds declaring that he would display screen a documentary about police firing in Tuticorin.


Since Vellaiyan failed to produce any censor certificate or some other documents, the police issued a understand to him asking him to not display screen the documentary.


Vellaiyan used to be planning to display screen the documentary at Reporters Guild reliable in Chepauk here at 11am these days. A police crew used to be deployed close to the Reporters Guild if Vellaiyan screened the documentary.
