Silt, plastic dug out from drain dumped on road

Mysuru: For weeks in combination, citizens of Vidyaranyapuram and Chamundipuram has been complaining of clogged drains of their localities, and the foul scent emanating from them. Repeated pleas by the citizens triggered Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to keep in mind of this severe factor, and the drains were promptly cleared a few days ago. However, the company seems to have left a brand new problem in the place of the old one. The silt, plastic and different debris that used to be excavated from the drains had been dumped at the road, leaving a multitude that has left the citizens miffed with the loss of planning that has long gone into the exercise. On the opposite hand, MCC officers have assured the citizens of clearing the mess.

Residents of the 2 localities stated that the drains had been clogged for long, and as a result, became a breeding flooring for mosquitoes. “It used to be only once we made several representations to the MCC that they desilted the drains, and cleared them of waste. Now, they have got dumped all of this at the road, which is causing extra issues for us,” stated a resident.

Rameshwar Jain, a resident of Chamundipuram, stated that the trash that is dug out of the drains should preferably be transported to waste processing devices. “Instead, they have got dumped it at the road. The whole house is stinking as a result,” Jain stated.

The huge amount of plastic found in the drains pointed to the rampancy of its use. “It is gloomy to peer that despite sale of plastic being banned in the town, the substance is still being used widely by the folks,” stated Vidyashri, a pupil.

An MCC respectable informed TOI that he used to be now not conscious about the silt and different debris dug out of the drains having been dumped at the road. “If this is the case, we can take quick action and make sure the rubbish is got rid of,” he added.
