STPI to create 28 centers of excellence in emerging areas including AI

PUNE: Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), which runs beneath the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, is ready to create 28 Centres of Excellence around the nation in emerging fields like Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Clod, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, BLock Chain and others. Director of STPI, Sanjay Gupta said this while turning in the inaugural address at Bharti Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering's annual national tech pageant - Bhartiyam 2019.

Gupta said, "STPI is taking an initiative to create 28 Centres of Excellence in emerging fields which will work in collaboration with stakeholders, state governments, academia, industry and industry mentorship to provide a platform for start ups and budding entrepreneurs."


He added,"Although India is a $167 billion IT industry, yet its contribution to product industry is a mere $ 7.1 billion. In this direction, the Government of India has launched a national policy towards software products which aims to boost the industry. This software product policy will create 3.5 million jobs and boost the software product revenue to $80 billion by 2025."


He further mentioned that there is a want to get ready scholars as per the necessities of the industry and that hackathons act as an interface between academia and industry. "Hackathons are unique to identify new and disruptive innovations while solving problems and also provide a platform for young graduates to develop entrepreneurship skills while allowing them to think out of the box," he mentioned.


Bharatiyam 19 is ready to see various technical events and the Bharatiyam Hackathon. The hackathon will see participating groups broaden answers to actual time issues inside 48 hours. The pageant will see different events like a national degree project exhibition, paper presentation, technical and science quiz, panel discussions and others.

Director of C-Tech Engineers Private Limited, Pune, Avinash Chabukswar and Pricipal and Dean of BV(DU)COE, Anand Bhalerao were also present at the inaugural consultation and interacted with the students.
