Aizawl: Aizawl FC can have stopped East Bengal from successful on the discipline right here on Tuesday however the off-field behaviour of one of the lovers at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium may just land them in hassle.
All India Football Federation (AIFF) CEO Sunando Dhar, provide at the stadium, said AIFF will take required action in opposition to them following proceedings by way of event commissioner Balasubramaniam Byrappa.
"The match was exciting and both the teams wanted to win. However, the crowd was hostile and there were some banners which shouldn't have been used. Also the match commissioner wrote in his report about a bottle being thrown towards Khalid Jamil. So we will take the required action against the club regarding the same," said Dhar after the event.
Meanwhile, East Bengal manager Rajat Guha sounded more than dissatisfied with the best way they were treated by way of the house lovers after the event. "Some of the home fans hounded Jamil after the match and followed him back to the dressing room. They kept giving slogans against him and things could have easily gone out of hand had some of the others not intervened. In the end, we were taken out of the stadium through the backdoor so as to avoid the home fans," said Guha. He was also confused with the fact they set up a valid device just in the back of the away team's dugout to bother them.
The house lovers' response is believed to have caused by way of what Jamil had said all the way through the pre-match press convention on Monday. "I did not leave Aizawl, Aizawl told me to go," he said and which is meant to have enraged the supporters.
They kept booing him right through the event and even introduced banners that had 'traitor' and 'Judas' written on them. So much was their anger that they went to file an FIR in opposition to him but were turned back by way of the police because it was not a 'cognizable crime'. "Since it was a case of defamation we asked them to take up the issue with the civil court," said a supply with regards to the police.
Aizawl FC, then again, gave a commentary referring to what Jamil had said on Monday. "Khalid Jamil left Aizawl FC on his own. His contract expired and he did not want to sign a new one," it mentioned.
The man in fear, however, played down all of the factor after the event. "What has happened prior to now has happened. When I used to be right here I gave my 100% but now I belong to East Bengal.
As for the lovers they have the correct to return and react and have nothing to mention about that," said Jamil all the way through the post-match press convention.
He, however, said sorry for not shaking palms with Aizawl coach Paulo Menezes after the event and added: "I did say hi and good luck to him for the future."
Menzes also admitted that he shouldn't have requested Lalram Chullova to speed up against the end of the event and thinks that may have precipitated Jamil from not shaking palms in spite of everything. "It was my mistake and I shouldn't have done that. But at the end of the game I approached him and said sorry," said the Portuguese coach.
He was also not proud of the refereeing and blamed East Bengal for their time losing ways.
