BHUBANESWAR: Panic gripped Puri railway station after a LPG cylinder exploded in the pantry automotive of a desk bound army particular train at platform no-2 on Wednesday. Railway police mentioned no person used to be provide in the affected pantry or in other coaches when the explosion came about.
Impact of the explosion used to be so critical that the pantry automotive used to be badly damaged. Two staff of a pantry automotive of Dhauli Express, stationed at the adjoining platform no-1, have been injured after being hit through the exploded fabrics of the cylinder.
Divisional railway manager (Khurda) Brijmohan Agarwal mentioned a locally-filled 5-kg portable cylinder went off in the pantry automotive. "We do not know as to how the military train carried the local-made cylinder, whose use is strictly prohibited in trains. We will send our finding report to the defence for action at their end," Agarwal informed TOI.
The railway protection pressure (RPF) group of workers seized the exploded cylinder. Damage would have been worse had 12 other cylinders, saved in the pantry had burst. "We immediately mobilized fire tenders and doused the fire quickly. Fortunately nobody was present in the military special train. As of now, we have not come across any criminality or foul play behind the incident," a RPF officer mentioned. RPF mobilised dog squad and sealed the realm.
