Shikhar Dhawan fit for first Test, Ravindra Jadeja down with flu

NEW DELHI: Shikhar Dhawan's availability for the primary Test between India and South Africa starting Friday in Cape Town has been showed, however the all-round products and services of Ravindra Jadeja are in doubt.

In a media liberate on Wednesday, the BCCI showed that Dhawan was have compatibility and able to be picked for the sequence opener, and that Jadeja was down with viral illness for the previous two days. Jadeja is being monitored via the Indian group's medical staff and a call on his fitness is expected to be taken before match morning, said the BCCI.

"India opener Shikhar Dhawan is fit and is available for selection for the first Test. Dhawan had suffered a minor ankle injury before the team's departure to South Africa," mentioned the release.


"Jadeja has been suffering from viral illness for the past two days. The BCCI Medical Team has been monitoring him and is also in touch with the local medical team in Cape Town. The BCCI Medical Team in consultation with the local medical team has decided that Jadeja will be taken to a hospital for treatment and expects him to fully recover in the next 48 hrs. A decision on his availability for selection for the opening Test against South Africa will be taken on the morning of the match i.e. 5th January 2018."


India play 3 Tests in South Africa - at Newlands, Centurion and The Wanderers - followed via six ODIs and three Twenty20 internationals.
