Udhagamandalam: The Government Botanical Garden (GBG) in Ooty witnessed an tournament with fun and frolic, a one among its type, on Thursday. At least 2,000 ladies, including the Nilgiris district collector, self-help groups and vacationers gathered on the sprawling lawn in the GBG. Yes, the gathering was to have fun ‘ladies’s day’ in a casual way of expressing themselves. The tournament was organized via the district management in affiliation with Social Welfare Department, Women Development Department and Light and Life Academy.
It was fun for all of the ladies gathered there including J Innocent Divya, Nilgiris Collector and different ladies officials and women personnel from the collector’s workplace and income department besides the general public.
T. Devakumari, District Social Welfare Officer advised TOI, “It is a day out for all of the ladies gathered right here. And it is a motivational tournament for them”.
The programmes integrated games reminiscent of lime on spoon race, tug of war, musical chair and 3 legged race, besides flash mob. Women from all walks of lifestyles, including the collector, officials and women police took section in all of the events held in the open air without any inhibition.
It was not a proper function with a chief guest. “Here, lately, everybody felt as a chief guest and the event facilitated them to come out as what they're”, stated Aruradha Iqbal, Correspondent of Light and Life academy, which had organized many of the events. Also, students and personnel from the academy took section in nearly all of the events and documented too.
A visible CD on ladies empowerment and womanhood created via the scholars of Light and Life Academy was launched via the Collector. “Fun parts like ‘faking news’ in the visual CD, portrayed via the common ladies, is the spotlight of the visual and that portrays the boldness degree of a not unusual girl”, stated Iqbal Mohamed, founding father of Light and Life Academy.
A wish tree for the women in the garden attracted lots of the ladies. And interestingly one such wish tag learn: ‘I wish for a much less judgmental society’.
Anuradha stated, “This 12 months’s theme being ‘Press for Progress’, interpretation of the artwork as ladies in development, equality, safety, schooling to lady kid and all the ones are standard issues and they're going down.
