MANGALURU: After a kabaddi tournament used to be organized by way of UTK Brigades, now Ullal Friends Circle (UFC) is gearing up to cling the UTK Trophy-2018, a cricket tournament in the name of minister U T Khader.
The tournament can be held on the Sea Grounds in Ullal. International cricketer Syed Kirmani can be provide for the valedictory of the three-day tournament that got under way on Friday.
Though the UTK Trophy cricket tournament is being held at a time when the state is heading towards assembly elections, the organizers assert that it is ‘Sports for Peace,’ and say that it has not anything to do with politics. The tournament is being held at the seaside in Mangaluru, which is the constituency of minister for food, civil supplies and client affairs U T Khader.
UFC president Fairoz Ahmed Ullal advised TOI that the UTK Trophy 2018 is not related to the upcoming Assembly election. “UTK Trophy is being organized with the theme – ‘sports activities for peace’ and it has not anything to do with politics. We are conserving the tournament in U T Khader’s name since the minister is instrumental in bringing quite a lot of schemes to our constituency, especially for the full building of Ullal. He is instrumental in imposing a Rs 280 crore challenge, this is geared toward offering an enduring resolution for sea erosion in Ullal, sanctioning excellent roads, a multi-specialty sanatorium and plenty of different schemes for the constituency. Proceeds from the tournament can be applied for the treatment of poor sufferers,” he said.
“A total 18 groups can be collaborating in the UTK Trophy overarm tennis ball cricket tournament. The profitable team can be awarded the UTK Trophy and Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up will get a trophy and Rs 50,000. Attractive prizes may also be distributed to the best bowler, very best batsman, guy of the fit and guy of the collection,” Faroz said, including that the minister may also be enjoying for a team.
It could also be recalled that fanatics of Khader had held an inter-fistrict kabaddi tournament on March 3 at Kinya village in the minister’s constituency.
