COIMBATORE: Several political parties got here together here on Wednesday to voice their protest in opposition to BJP chief H Raja for his controversial feedback on social reformer EVR Periyar’s statues.

DMK celebration cadres staged protests across 11 places in the city. Pongalur N Palanisamy and 80 cadres were detained for staging a protest at DMK’s Gandhipuram administrative center.


“Totally, 525 people, together with 22 girls, were detained for conducting protests at various portions of town,” a police officer stated.


Meanwhile, BJP chief and previous member of Parliament CP Radhakrishnan condemned the attack at the celebration administrative center and requested the cadre to deal with legislation and order. “We will co-operate with the police. We request the state executive not most effective arrest those that hurled bombs at the administrative center, but in addition the mind at the back of all of the incident,” he stated.


Talking about Raja’s feedback on demolition of statues of Periyar and Lenin, Radhakrishnan stated ideologies will have to be fought with discussion and not with violence. “We condemn all kinds of violence despite the fact that our celebration members are excited about it.
