BERHAMPUR: A former lady sarpanch of Lailai panchayat in Gajapati district was once arrested on Saturday for allegedly attacking the assistant engineer of the block in his place of work.
The accused, known as Dhanamani Karjee (45) allegedly verbally abused and attacked the assistant engineer Kodanga Panigrahy because of a war of words at the quantity entered in a bill for street work.
The block building officer and other staff of the place of work reportedly rescued the engineer from the former sarpanch. "As per the FIR lodged by the assistant engineer, we have arrested Karjee," mentioned inspector-in-charge, Rayagada police station, Gopinanth Pradhan.
