Belagavi: Unlike remaining yr, there is no threat of consuming water scarcity in the city this summer, since there may be good storage of water in Rakaskop reservoir and Hidkal Dam, the principle assets of consuming water to town.
According to assets in Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewage Board (KUWS&SB), water saved in Rakaskop reservoir would cater the desires of town until June 2nd week. Present storage of water in Rakaskop is 2,464.20toes, about 1ft more as in comparison to remaining yr.
Water storage in Hidkal Dam is also higher this yr. It is nearly 4tmcft greater than remaining yr’s storage. Present storage of water in the dam is 12.19tmcft in comparison to eight.67 tmcft remaining yr. Outflow of water from the dm is 2,572 cusecs. Outflow has no longer been stopped owing to good storage.
Water from each Rakaskop reservoir and Hidkal dam is lifted on a daily basis to be supplied to town. In a gathering held two days in the past, mayor Basavaraj Chikkaldinni and commissioner Shashidhar Kurer mentioned with KUWS&SB govt engineer Kariyappa and collected information about the water scenario. Sources mentioned the mayor and the commissioner requested Kariyappa to provide water supply as soon as in 4 days to each ward during summer since there is no scarcity of water.
Speaking to TOI, KUWS&SB officer A I Shirur mentioned evaporation of water can be high during summer and provide agenda can be deliberate every so often making an allowance for availability of water. However, water storage this yr is far better as in comparison to the past few years, he mentioned.
