GURUGRAM: Nearly 500 anganwadi workers sat on a protest asking for better wages and working conditions on International Women’s Day on Thursday, claiming girls’s empowerment does no longer make a lot sense with the government continuing to forget about their calls for after virtually three weeks of protests at the streets.
The girls accumulated outside the place of business of the Gurugram deputy commissioner round 9am on Thursday and protested until the afternoon. It was the 18th day of their protest which started in the midst of February.
Sarswati Panchal, who's leading the protests, stated, “On one hand, the government talks of empowering girls and enabling them via govt schemes and initiatives, and on the other hand, they let us take a seat at the streets for nearly three weeks.” She stated there was no point of promoting the cause of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao if daughters had to struggle for their fundamental rights, equivalent to equal wages and health advantages.
The anganwadi workers have been demanding for minimum wages of Rs 18,000 per 30 days, retirement advantages, pension advantages, once a year holidays and build up in condo budget for anganwadi centres.
Earlier closing month, state minster for ladies empowerment Kavita Jain had agreed to probably the most calls for of the employees once they burnt her effigy in a show of protest.
She introduced that the government would issue a notification for once a year summer season and wintry weather holidays for anganwadi workers and helpers.
Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had additionally introduced that the wages can be higher to a sum of over Rs 11,000 for all the ones running for over 10 years.
The workers, however, stated that they didn't trust in such bulletins and the least the government may do, was give it to them in writing.
