BHUBANESWAR: In order to take forward the power conservation measures, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has finished set up of LED lighting fixtures in all its stations beneath its jurisdiction. It has replaced the conventional lighting fixtures with those LED lighting fixtures.
ECoR is expected to save lots of Rs 1, 33, 52,038 yearly after the usage of LED lighting fixtures throughout its zone. “After implementation of 100 in step with cent LED lighting fixtures at all 313 stations, total power financial savings involves 21, 29, 690 devices,” stated reliable resources.

ECoR has 3 divisions- Khurda Road, Sambalpur and Waltair. It has 313 stations and 6 passenger halts (PH) beneath its jurisdiction spread over Odisha and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Out of these, six PHs beneath Waltair department don't have any electricity connection. So the six PHs are not included within the tasks.
The challenge covered 134 station of Khurda Road department. After set up, this department will save 12, 79,690 power devices in step with annum and save price round Rs 77, 52,038. Sambalpur department has put in those lighting fixtures in its 67 stations and stored 6.5 lakh power devices costs round Rs 41 lakh in step with annum. Similarly, 118 stations of Waltair department have won the lighting fixtures to save lots of 2 lakh power devices that price round Rs 15 lakh in step with annum.
Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a government-owned power carrier company, performed the challenge within the ECoR after going through an agreement with the ministry of Railways.
Railway minister Piyush Goyal in his funds speech had introduced concerning the LED challenge. It had set the objective of attaining 100 in step with cent LED lighting fixtures by way of March 31, 2019, but the closing date used to be later revised to March 31 this year.
