LUDHIANA: Upset over no longer getting drugs, a 26-year-old man dedicated suicide by shooting himself from his father's authorized rifle at Machiwara on Thursday.
The deceased has been known Jay Singh, the son of ex-serviceman Jaswinder Singh, who labored as motive force.
The circle of relatives of the deceased instructed law enforcement officials that Jay was hooked to drugs and so they were encouraging him to shun the addiction. They added that because of this, Jay was confined to the home for past few days.
Police said that Jay’s mom Manpreet Kaur had gone to Anandpur Sahib to take recommendation of doctors on her son's addiction while his spouse and sister had gone to a shrine to pay obeisance. Only Jay's father was at house when he took the intense step.
Police said that Jay locked himself inside his room by bolting the door and shot himself with the rifle. Hearing the gunshot, his father rushed to his room and broke open the door where he found Jay in a pool of blood.
