Coimbatore: Alleging that Annur ring road mission is designed in this sort of manner that it runs over loads of acres of farming land, a gaggle of farmers on Monday filed a petition to the district collector urging him to rethink the mission.
“Agriculture is the main source of our livelihood and the mission is deliberate in this sort of manner that it is affected,” mentioned V Gandhinadhan, a resident of Karaiyampalayam in Annur.
The mission, which used to be geared toward decreasing site visitors congestion at Annur and convey big aid to the commuters, is designed in this sort of manner that it covers about 300 acres of farming land, the farmers added.
Citing that over 500 families are bound to be suffering from the mission, the farmers mentioned that lots of the farmers, who're land owners, personal only two or 3 acres.
“I've two acres of farm land and the mission is designed in this sort of manner that the road passes thru my land, thus leaving five cent on both sides,” mentioned Gandhinadhan, explaining that not anything might be carried out with simply five cents of land at the border of a road.
Explaining that they are growing coconut bushes, banana bushes, sugarcane and cultivating wheat and the entirety could be destroyed, the farmers mentioned that the government has agreed to provide only Rs eight lakh in keeping with acre with which not even a couple of cents might be introduced in that area. They petitioned the collector after highway government began to mark the borders on Friday. “The govt must supply us choice land as a substitute of giving us the money,” a farmer mentioned.
Collector TN Hariharan confident to take essential steps and forwarded the petition to the highways division. Officials at highways division mentioned that they will investigate cross-check the area. TNN
