Missing since 5 days, boy’s body found in garbage pit

Belagavi: The body of a 7-year-old boy, missing since five days, was once found in a 12-ft deep garbage pit at Pote Mala right here on Saturday. Police suspect that Ganesh Hosamani, who went missing from Malaprabha Nagar, Vadagaon, might have by accident fallen into the effluent-filled pit and drowned while playing in the house.

Police said prima facie, it is a case of twist of fate. However, they have got made up our minds to conduct an inquiry, inspecting all angles in the case.

Local residents alerted police after recognizing the swollen body in the pit. Shahapur CPI N Mrityunjay reached the spot. Police fished out the body ahead of conducting the panchnama.

Manjunath Hosamani, the victim’s father, had filed a complaint in Shahapur police station on Tuesday. Police and fireplace brigade introduced a seek operation in open wells, but to no avail. Even CCTV footages failed to track the boy.

Parents of the victim are weavers and daily salary employees. The case generated numerous debate in the house. When the body was once found, a large number of other people from the locality amassed on the spot. A case has been registered in Shahapur police station and an investigation has been began.
