AHMEDNAGAR: Sex staff in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district have donated Rs 21,000 for Kerala flood sufferers and they'll be elevating some other Rs 1 lakh by the tip of this month.
A gaggle of sex staff presented a cheque of Rs 21,000 drawn in favour of the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for Kerala flood sufferers to Resident Deputy Collector Prashant Patil right here on Monday, said a functionary of an NGO operating for them.
Dipak Buram of the city-based NGO Snehalaya said sex staff will elevate some other Rs 1 lakh by the month-end for Kerala flood sufferers.
Buram is coordinator of Snehjyot, a venture run by Snehalaya, which is operating for the welfare of sex staff for the final 30 years.
In the previous too, sex staff have contributed for helping the sufferers of herbal calamities in various parts of the rustic, he said.
In December 2015, they'd donated Rs 1 lakh for relief paintings in rain-ravaged Chennai, Buram said.
Till date, they've contributed nearly Rs 27 lakh for various reasons, together with for the sufferers of earthquake in Gujrat (2001), tsunami (2004), Kashmir and Bihar floods, drought relief in Maharashtra and households of Kargil conflict heroes, he said.
