Amid peace meeting, Vedanta announces compensation

BHAWANIPATNA: An uneasy calm descended in the house surrounding Vedanta's alumina refinery at Lanjigarh, 65 km from here, a day after two individuals died all the way through violent clashes between police and locals tough jobs at the plant and free schooling for his or her children.
On Tuesday, the Kalahandi district administration held a peace meeting between local residents and representatives of Vedanta in a bid to diffuse the crisis. "The meeting was held in a peaceful and positive note," Himanshu Lal, DIG (south western vary), stated.
