Sand mining racket busted

RAJKOT: An illegal sand mining racket used to be busted and 105 tonne sand and kit price crores of rupees have been seized through the police following a raid at the financial institution of the river Und in Jodiya taluka of Jamnagar on Tuesday.

Though no person used to be arrested, the police seized 14 dumper vans (eight filled with sand), two tractors and an earthmover from the financial institution of river Und at the outskirts of village Badanpar.


Jodiya police sub-inspector J C Gohil mentioned that the illegal mining used to be happening since past three months and so they had won a number of lawsuits over the length from locals. “Since the herbal resources in Bhadar river had depleted, the racketeers had targeted Und river the place no rent has been given for mining until date,” mentioned Gohil. Search is on for the operators of the racket, he added.
