SURAT: Police seized liquor price Rs17 lakh, which used to be delivered to the town in a tanker on Tuesday. Two persons have been arrested for bootlegging by state monitoring cell (SMC) of Gujarat Police that works below the direct supervision of workplace of director normal of police.
Police arrested Mohammad Riyaz Rafiq Shaikh and Raj Mohammad alias Raju Plastic Saiyed, both citizens of Udhna, for allegedly possessing the liquor. They have been unloading the liquor from the tanker when the raid used to be performed at round 5am. The liquor used to be being saved at the terrace of a plastic scrap warehouse of Saiyed in Sanjay Nagar, police said. Cops seized four,267 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) price Rs17 lakh and the tanker valued at Rs12 lakh.
Police declared Safiquddin alias Lala Ratiquddin Farooqi, his brothers Sohel and Sarif, all citizens of Udhna, sought after. On their directions, the liquor had been delivered to the town, police claimed.
Police found that the accused had brought the liquor within the tanker to verify its easy transportation. The offence used to be registered with Udhna police .
