CHANDIGARH: Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal mentioned on Thursday that the Centre has launched Rs 57 lakh as refund at the GST charged on uncooked fabrics used to arrange meals at 'langars' in gurdwaras, together with the Golden Temple.
The three-time Bathinda MP thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enjoyable the promise made to the Sikh group by way of initiating the process of refunding the Goods and Services Tax (GST) imposed on spiritual institutions.
In a remark issued here, she mentioned the Union ministry of culture has launched Rs 57 lakh GST refund to the GST authority in Ludhiana which is to be forwarded to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, which manages Sikh shrines.
"This is the first installment of GST refund and henceforth this refund will be issued quarterly to the SGPC. I thank the prime minister for the respect shown to Sikh sentiments by resolving this issue to the satisfaction of the Sikh community," the minister mentioned.
The earlier NDA government had determined to waive the GST on items utilized in preparing meals at 'langars' (group kitchen) by way of providing monetary assistance under the 'Seva Bhoj Yojna'.
Under the scheme, it was determined to reimburse both the central GST and the IGST (Integrated Goods and Service Tax) imposed on gurdwaras in addition to other spiritual institutions hosting 'langars'.
The Bathinda MP had previous prompt the top minister to waive the GST on components used to arrange 'langars'.
She had mentioned that the Golden Temple ran the arena's largest group kitchen providing loose foods all the way through the year to lakhs of folks, the donation for which was won from the offerings of devotees.
