NEW DELHI: Railway board chairman Aswani Lohani has blamed "huge accumulated deficit" in upkeep of infrastructure due to "decades of neglect" for the new spate of educate accidents.
"The accident at Manikpur is a cause for concern. Huge accumulated deficit in upkeep of infrastructure arising out of decades of neglect is taking its toll," Lohani said, terming the derailment of Patna-bound Vasco Da Gama Express in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, which killed a minimum of 3 passengers, as a "cause of concern".
"Consolidation has to take priority over growth and an action plan has to emerge very shortly," Lohani said in a Facebook submit.
The remark seems to suggest that the nationwide transporter would possibly move slow at the huge growth plan driven through Suresh Prabhu right through his tenure as railway minister.
